MTS Training # 11 First Aid, CPR & Heatstroke Training

Accidents happen. Whether they are minor or major accidents, you may not always be in a position to ignore it. Choosing to be a bystander may make an unfortunate situation downright catastrophic. And wanting to help, but not having the knowledge or ability to is maddening. That is why it is important to have some knowledge in basic first aid and CPR training.

At a minimum, first aid and CPR is the initial assistance given to a victim until professional medical assistance can be provided. Successfully applying basic first aid techniques and CPR requires little knowledge and can be completed by almost anyone.

Why Do I Need To Know First Aid And CPR

Basic first aid and CPR knowledge are invaluable because it allows you to comfort and help someone who is injured until help arrives. You never know when an emergency will arise and who will be affected.

The importance of being capable in an emergency situation is hard to overestimate, but the biggest benefits are:

  • Knowledge of life saving skills gives you the ability to help in a variety of emergency situations. You can help improve victim comfort, potentially prevent death, and apply tools to prevent the situation from becoming worse.
  • Creates confidence and willingness to respond in an emergency situation because you have learned the knowledge and had the ability to practice skills in a non-stressful environment.
  • Encourages a healthier and safer lifestyle because you have a better understanding of the consequences of certain risks and are less likely to become injured.

Accidents do and will happen. However, you do not have to be uncertain or fearful when faced with an emergency. Don’t rely on others to act. Take the steps to be capable yourself. First aid and CPR doesn’t just facilitate recovery. It helps save lives.
